As I’m writing this, I’m on my second flight about 3 hours away from landing in Bangkok. Saying goodbye to my family after living at home for a year was super sad, but as soon as I crossed through security I felt this buzz of excitement and new sense of freedom. I’m completely alone with so much in front of me. Slightly terrifying really, but also so thrilling. There’s also a certain sense of ease and bliss that comes with travelling solo. I don’t have to tell anyone where I’m going or what I’m doing, and I don’t have to wait for anyone after all going to the bathroom, it’s really great!
As my flight took off, I had a little cry as I watched the UK disappear beneath the clouds. Of course my flight took off late, which is normally no big deal. But, it’s kind of a big deal when you have a connecting flight to catch. We landed in Istanbul and taxied for what seemed like a year. Finally got off the plane and had to RUN to literally the other side of the airport to catch my connecting flight. Bearing in mind Istanbul airport is one of the biggest airports in the world. The gate couldn’t have been further away. Any ways, I was an absolute sweaty mess on arrival, but I made it...and that’s what counts.
There’s always gonna be inconvenient situations that arise during travel, and I’m learning to keep my cool (apart from when I have to run) when things are out of my control. It may be inconvenient, but it’s often the things that go wrong that make the best stories... and everyone loves a good story (I get that no one loves missing a flight though). If you’re reading this now it means I’ve arrived safely to my hostel and have found WiFi, happy days.
Right, so my future posts will actually be about my trip now! Enough of this build up and me just chatting shit, the adventure has begun. Yep, that’s it for this post. Bring on Bangkok!
Big love,
Belle x
